Does what it should, does not cost much and helps me track space while I am developing in Xcode. Before this I regularly ran "df -h" in the terminal to monitor my little SSD space.

I’ve used this app (purchased from the Mac App Store) for a number of years across versions of OS X without any problems. Very handy for quickly ejecting external drives when taking my MacBook Pro mobile. Free space alerts are very handy (nice for an early warning if a Time Machine drive is filling up). Highly recommended!

Does what it Says

Works fine in my menubar to tell me what space I have left. Very Useful

This app is just about perfect for my needs to quickly monitor the available free space on my main disk. FreeSpace is simple and focused, not cluttered with a bunch of unnecessary frills.

If you need to keep track of how much room is available on your drives, this is must have. I have four internal drives, one partitioned as two drives, and an external backup drive and a thumb drive. In all that is seven drives hooked up to my Mac Pro. Also, from that menu you see if you directly select a drive it opens a finder window for that drive. It all works as expected and hoped for.

I have a MacBook Pro and contanstly need to plug in my USB drive to backup using Time Machine. With this app, I can see instantly how much space is left on my USB drive when plugged in. After the backup was finished, the app flashes an Eject icon in the menu bar. And thiss the time I know I can disconnect my drive safely. Without this app, I never realize when the backup was finished because TM always backup silently. I work with many windows cluttering my desktop and I never notice when my drive was ejected by TM. Now I can know from the menu bar. Thanks developer.

I have been looking for an app like this for long…. I have a bunch of harddisks to manage, it is so troublesome to eject them one by one. this little app solved my problem. This little app on the menu bar is so efficient and easy to use, highly recommended!

FreeSpace is a very simple menu bar application which displays the free space left on your hard drive. With the recent upgrade to Lion, you will notice the free space is no longer displayed on the finder window, letting you forget about how much space you have left because it is no longer conveniently displayed. But FreeSpace does more then just show you free disk space, it can also show partitions on your hard drive, usb flash drives and external storage, even network storage disks. You can even do an eject all command straight from FreeSpace in your menu bar. By just looking at the screenshots you may think it doesn’t seem that useful. But it really is. Mostly for users that have multiple storage drives, either connected directly to your Mac or over a network. Also with a great auto launch feature, you just have to install it once and never worry about it, it will always be in your menu bar if you choose so. You can also open any drive by just clicking on it in FreeSpace in your menu, this allows for quick drive navigation when you have multiple windows open and cant see your desktop. Overall its a very useful and simple application that once you start to use, you can never do without.

Application works very well. Shows free space for each drive very clearly, and shows the main internal drive as the menubar text. Also makes it very easy to unmount any drive, a step i find very quick and efficient. Great app, definitely worth the $0.99! Keep up the good work.

Love it!

Very, very handy utility! I have an internal SSD and an internal HDD, along with several external drives. Perfect!

Waste of money

This app is not useful in showing the actual breakdown of hard drive space use.

Awful. Downloaded the app and it says its open, but I cant find it or see it anywhere. When I try to delete it to attempt a reinstall, it says it cant because it is"open". Very, very disappointing. No contact numbers anywhere. Definitely would not recommend.

Does what it says...

The app does what it says and the price is right. With Lions issues with unmounting temp drives this app is highly worth it.

I love being able to have easy access to all my drives now that they no longer show up on the desktop in Lion. And now I no longer have to open a new finder window just to unmount something! What a perfect little app!!!

For someone who cant feel at ease without seeing the free space on his drives every 5 minutes this app is a god send. Especially now with SSDs being too small for comfort. Works as advertised, no crashes, updated regularly with new features. This should have been an internal OsX feature!

This app is a must have for every Mac user. FreeSpace makes moving between drives and ejecting them so much easier. You can quickly see which drives are available and connect to them instantly through the convenient task bar icon. FreeSpace will show the available space of your computer HD, any connected USB HD and network drives as well. There was a small glitch in the latest update. I contacted the developer, he responded within minutes, and after a few emails describing exaclty what was going on, he fixed it. Thats the best tech support experience I have ever had! I cannot say enough about the product and company behind it. Apple should purchase this software and release it with ever version of Lion, its that useful. This app is a steal at only $.99!!!

I just needed a simple utility that can report the free space of my primary hard drive. This utility does the trick and works as expected. Updated on June 14, 2012 As a bonus, this utility solves a problem Ive had for a long while. I have a WD HD connected to my Apple router. Unfortunately, the WD HD goes to sleep after about 1-2 minute of idle time (to preserve life Im sure). Unfortunately, this causes my Mac and Windows machines to disconnect from the hard drive. With this utility, perhaps due to its polling of the hard drive, keeps my connection to it active. Problem solved! Yey! Of course, while this is a good bonus for me, it might be a bad bonus for some of you who do not want your hard drives polled frequent enough to prevent it from going into idle mode.

I wanted a simple and cheap app to tell me the GBs on my HD and a quick way to see the GBs left on my flash drives, fulfilled everything I thought it was and beyond.

Easy way to eject volumes such as hard disks, CDs, etc. Before had to go to Finder window and do it. Also, now has Moutain Lion Notifications. Great utility.
